Cabinet Finish Planning Calculator

Plan a cabinet finish scope before the proposal.

Compare painting, staining, or refacing using cabinet size, finish system, and a few optional details. This tool does not price stand-alone countertops, hardware installation, or modifications. It frames the conversation — it does not replace a written proposal.

How the range is built.

The base range comes straight from our cabinet painting cost guide. Adjustments reflect the project factors our current estimating guidance considers:

  • Cabinet count is the single largest driver.
  • Current material changes the prep path. Painted wood is the simplest; heavy varnish takes the most prep.
  • Color choice. Library colors are at the base rate. A custom match adds about 5%.
  • Two-tone doubles the spray setup, masking, and cleanup — plan for about 18% more.
  • Hardware is quoted as an add-on. Knobs are simpler than pulls; soft-close conversions add more.
  • Countertops use square footage as a planning input. Your proposal confirms the selected material, templating, seam planning, scope, and price.
  • Modifications — pull-outs, lazy susans, glass inserts — are priced by scope at the consultation, not in this range.

Numbers narrow at the consultation. Three sample doors, real light, a written proposal — in that order.
