Quick answers
Short answers based on ColorUp’s published planning ranges. Written proposals control price, schedule, and warranty for each project.
How much does cabinet painting cost in Houston?
Most full-kitchen cabinet painting projects fall between $3,500 and $9,000. Kitchen painting usually starts from $3,500 for planning. $2,500 applies to smaller standalone painting projects only. Final price is in the written proposal after cabinets and scope are reviewed. ColorUp quotes using a linear-foot / scope method (condition, surfaces, finish, and related work) — public pages do not list per-door or per-linear-foot unit rates.
How much does cabinet refacing cost?
Typical Houston planning range $5,000–$12,000. Proposal after door, panel, hardware, and fabrication scope is approved.
How much does cabinet staining cost?
Typical Houston planning range $4,500–$9,500. Confirmed after substrate, stripping, repair, sample, and clear-coat scope.
How much do countertops / hardware / soft-close cost?
Countertops are quoted on the written proposal after templating. Hardware installation typically $385–$850. Soft-close upgrade for a full kitchen typically $600–$1,200. Deposit, schedule, fees, and financing appear on the accepted proposal, invoice, or secure checkout.
Schedule and warranty, confirmed — not marketed as slogans.
Cabinet painting typically runs three to five days. The written schedule is confirmed after preparation, finish, and in-home sequence are reviewed for your kitchen — not promised as a fixed timeline.
Cabinet painting with a 1K paint system includes a one (1) year limited warranty, and a 2K paint system includes a three (3) year limited warranty, as stated on the accepted proposal. All other work carries a one (1) year limited labor warranty, which covers labor only; doors, hinges, countertops, drawer slides, and modifications carry no product warranty, and countertop installation carries a one-year limited labor warranty. ColorUp warranties are not transferable to a new owner. Coverage and exclusions are in the signed terms — those documents control.
We do not publish speed contests or multi-year slogans disconnected from the written project record.

How long does cabinet painting take?
Typically three to five days; confirmed after approved preparation, finish, and in-home sequence. Written proposal controls schedule.
How long do refacing / staining / countertops take?
Refacing, staining, and countertops are confirmed after the relevant scope is approved — door/panel/hardware/fabrication for refacing; substrate/strip/repair/sample/clear coat for staining; material/template/fabrication/site-readiness for countertops. Day counts are not invented ahead of that review.
What coating system does ColorUp use?
Renner Italia (1K standard, 2K two-component upgrade) polyurethane wood coating, made in Italy; high-build primer and topcoat, applied air-assisted airless in a controlled environment; sheens matte, satin, or semi-gloss. Use and full-cure guidance for the selected coating is confirmed at project handoff.
Do you spray cabinet doors in a shop or paint everything in the house?
ColorUp typically shop-finishes doors and drawer fronts in a controlled spray environment (ColorUp is a service-area business based in Kingwood, TX) and finishes fixed boxes / frames on-site as scoped. Exact sequence is confirmed in the written project plan.
What warranty does cabinet painting include?
Cabinet painting projects with a 1K paint system include a one (1) year limited warranty, and a 2K paint system includes a three (3) year limited warranty. All other work carries a one (1) year limited labor warranty; doors, hinges, countertops, drawer slides, and modifications carry no product warranty, and countertop installation carries a one-year limited labor warranty. Coverage, exclusions, and process are stated in the signed / accepted proposal and Warranty Policy — those documents control. Summary: covers only peeling caused by poor surface preparation; does not cover: normal wear and tear, including edge wear, sheen change, and minor chips or scratches from daily use; impact, accidental, pet, or misuse damage; water, moisture, humidity, heat, or steam damage, including leaks and flooding; harsh or abrasive cleaners, or care that conflicts with the care guide; natural wood movement, joint or seam cracks, and color change from UV or aging; damage from work by others, later renovations, or repairs made before ColorUp inspects. Claims: email info@colorupcabinets.com with “Warranty Claim” in the subject line.
Should I paint or reface my cabinets?
Paint when boxes and door profile are sound and you mainly want a new color/finish. Reface when boxes/layout work but doors are damaged, delaminating (for example peeling thermofoil), or you need a different door style (painting cannot change profile to Shaker). Full replacement is for failed boxes or layout changes — ColorUp refers that out. Planning ranges: paint $3,500–$9,000 most; reface $5,000–$12,000.
How much does wood staining cost vs painting?
Staining typically plans at $4,500–$9,500; painting most kitchens $3,500–$9,000. Staining keeps or redirects wood character; painting changes to an opaque finish system. Exact path depends on wood, condition, and design goal — confirmed in writing.
When can I use my kitchen after cabinet painting?
The very next day. Your kitchen is available to use the very next day after we’re done. The finish keeps hardening for about a week after that, so be gentle for the first three days and use only water and microfiber for the first seven, as your care guide explains.
What to expect
Do I need to be home while you work?
No. You don’t need to be home while the crew works. We agree on access before the project starts.
What hours does the crew work?
The crew typically works from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on project days.
How far out are you booking?
Booking is usually two to three weeks out. Smaller jobs can often be scheduled sooner.
Is the team background-checked?
Yes. The ColorUp team working in your home is background-checked.
How long does a cabinet finish last?
With normal care, a 1K paint system finish typically lasts 10–14 years and a 2K paint system finish typically lasts 15–20 years. Those are typical ranges, not a promise for every kitchen; your written warranty terms still apply.
Do I get care instructions?
Yes. A care guide comes after every service.
Will a white finish turn yellow?
Our finishes are a non-yellowing, premium waterbased acrylic polyurethane, applied through The Toucan Process.
Do you reuse my existing hinges?
Yes. Existing hinges are reused unless you choose to upgrade them, for example to soft-close.
How fast will I hear back?
We reply within 24 hours.

Quick answers
Can I replace countertops without replacing cabinets?
Yes when boxes and layout are sound—ColorUp coordinates new stone with kept cabinets; templating controls countertop price (no public $/sf). See keep cabinets + stone and one-company paint + counters.
Is DIY cabinet painting worth it?
ColorUp uses shop-sprayed Renner Italia—we do not publish DIY 2K spray instructions. See DIY vs pro.
Can you paint laminate kitchen cabinets?
Often yes when laminate is sound and prep/adhesion allow; peeling thermofoil is a different path. See laminate and thermofoil three-way.
Does sprayed paint last longer than brush and roll?
Spray helps uniformity; prep + product + process matter more than spray alone. ColorUp shop-sprays doors with Renner Italia. See spray vs brush.
What should I compare in a cabinet painting warranty?
ColorUp: 1-year limited warranty on a 1K paint system; 3 years on a 2K paint system; signed proposal controls exclusions. See warranty compare.
What modifications make sense without a full remodel?
Hardware, soft-close, selected storage mods, finish, and stone can refresh a kitchen when layout works. See mods and soft-close.
Can you paint MDF doors / does humidity peel paint?
MDF often paints when edges are sound; humidity stresses weak prep more than good 2K alone. See MDF and humidity.

Quick answers
How much do countertops cost in Houston?
ColorUp does not publish countertop $/sq ft. Per the pricing table above, countertops are quoted on the written proposal after templating. Countertop cost and materials: what drives countertop cost and countertops service.
Quartz vs quartzite vs granite?
Quartz is engineered (typically no sealing; trivets for heat). Quartzite and granite are natural (tagged-slab approval; sealing depends on the stone). See quartz vs quartzite and quartz vs granite. Porcelain is in the catalog — porcelain vs quartz (Dekton is not a ColorUp line).
Will my countertop seams be visible?
Most multi-piece kitchens need seams. ColorUp plans them to be as discreet as slab, layout, and material allow — not invisible. See seam visibility and planning.
What happens at the template visit?
Laser template once cabinets are set and level is cut authority — not a homeowner sketch. See laser templating expectations.
How long do counters take with cabinet painting?
Stone dates are confirmed after material, template, fabrication, and site readiness. Painting is typically three to five days. ColorUp does not promise a fixed 5–7 day stone timeline. See timeline with painting.
